Although around 2.3 in length, due to the bore diameter this jinashi plays a fundamental ‘ro’ near the pitch of  ‘A’ . The  difference is ca. + 15 cents on ‘A’ and throughout the scale. Naturally differing embouchure techniques may result in slightly different fundamental pitch values. It playes with a smooth raw sound, up to dai-kan.

Visually the shakuhachi has an attractive root-end and  some subtle bamboo patterns and markings.

The shakuhachi is particular suitable for playing honkyoku music as well as being simply used for breathing and meditative exercises and practices.

The shakuhachi comes with a protective utaguchi cap and a carrying bag. (see pictures)
