Around 2.3 in length, and due to the bore diameter this jinashi is approximately 20 cents higher than ‘Ab’ throughout the scale. Naturally, differing embouchure techniques may result in slightly different fundamental pitch values. It playes with a smooth raw sound, up top dai-kan.
Visually the shakuhachi has an attractive root-end with some subtle bamboo patterns and markings
The shakuhachi is particular suitable for playing honkyoku music as well as being simply used for breathing and meditative exercises and practices.
