Around 2.3 in length, this jinashi plays around a fundamental of pitch of ‘Bb’ +10 cents throughout the scale. Naturally differing embouchure techniques may result in slightly different fundamental pitch values. It playes with a raw but clear sound, with strong focused and easy accessible kan and up the dai-kan register too.
Visually the shakuhachi has an attractive root-end with some subtle bamboo patterns and markings
The shakuhachi is particular suitable for playing honkyoku music as well as being simply used for breathing and meditative exercises and practices.
