2.4 (‘A’) *SOLD*
shakuhachi (jiari)
year made: 2024
bamboo: japanese madake
weight: 471 g
diameter (near top): ca. 37mm
length: 736 mm
utaguchi: acrylic insert with silver lining
inside: black urushi lacquer
key: A (A @ 440Hz)
Strong, solid piece of madake bamboo, cured for between 30-40 years, gives the shakuhachi a tone with a full body and excellent range of tonal colours. A round, solid otsu, as well as an easy to reach kan register . There is also access to dai-kan (3.octave) up to ro (4. octave). The first (bottom) and third hole is offset for more ergonomical holding of flute.
Joint with traditional metal rings and decorative rattan binding. The weight of the flute bamboo for a 2.4 is medium at 471 g. Mainly a bright light bamboo colour with some subtle markings towards the root end. This shakuhachi can be used for various styles and genres, particularly suited to honkyoku and equally to modern/contemporary music too.
Due to a slight imperfection around the silver inlay at the utaguchi (does not affect the playability or anything else, see close-up photos) this 2.4 is reduced to € 1200. Great opportunity.
The shakuhachi comes with a protective utaguchi cap and a carrying bag. (see pictures.)
