This jiari shakuhachi has been made from an elegant curved shaped japanese madake bamboo, which was harvested sometime in the late 60s/early 70s. This length of time of drying makes excellent bamboo for shakuhachi. The flute has a rich bright tonal colour with a broad, open sound, a great response and balance throughout the octaves. Both, otsu and kan register are easy accessible and is also capable of the full dai-kan range.
There are traditional rattan bindings on the middle joint rings and the bore is finished with black urushi. The bamboo due to its curve is very comfortable to hold and the flute at 322 gram is very light.
This shakuhachi can be used for various styles and genres e.g. honkyoku, sankyoku or modern music. The shakuhachi comes with a protective utaguchi cap and bag (brown, leather imitation).
