A solid, round-ish piece of madake bamboo with root end. Good volume with softish sound, quick response. Kan register is accessible easily. Joint with traditional metal rings and decorative rattan binding. The shakuhachi has some minor aesthetic blemishes which of course do not affect the playability of the flute – four bindings with rattan decoration for small hairline crack on top half – hence the reduced price. This shakuhachi can be used for various styles and genres (e.g. honkyoku, sankyoku, min’yō).
It comes with a protective utaguchi cap and a carrying bag. (see pictures)
