This jiari shakuhachi is made from japanese madake bamboo harvested in the mid/late 1960s, and with ca. 5O+ years of drying makes excellent bamboo for shakuhachi. The flute has an expressive, rich variety of tonal colours, yet a compact full sound. It has excellent tuning with an easy accessible otsu and kan register and is also capable of the full dai-kan range, tested up to ‘ro‘ in the fourth octave. Great dynamics and response make this an excellent instrument
