This shakuhachi has a softish, broad tone. It plays easy through the octaves with equal weight and balance. A solid tone colour make this medium weight bamboo a great starter flute. The shakuhachi was made without middle joint though has the decorative rattan binding around the middle part. I offer this reduced due to some visual imperfections, i.e. the bamboo I was given was an abandoned flute hence the marks from some repair work to the bamboo surface). This shakuhachi can be used for various styles and genres (e.g. honkyoku, sankyoku, min’yō).
The shakuhachi comes with a protective utaguchi cap and a carrying bag. (see pictures)
