This shakuhachi has a beautiful wide, soft and full tone. It has a relative wide inside bore being inspired by a kinko flute profile from the 60s/70s. It plays very easily through the octaves with equal weight and a wide range of sound colours – from a raw and wide otsu to subtle and focused kan register. A strong honkyoku player where the appropriate breath control produces a wide dynamic range. The holes are off-set for easier reach. (For right-hand-bottom-players).
Visually the bamboo has an exquisite ‘marbled’ surface and very smooth appearance. The flute has also an attractive overall curved shape.
The shakuhachi can be used for various styles and genres, probably particular suitable for honkyoku music. It comes with a protective utaguchi cap and a carrying bag. (see pictures)
