This jiari shakuhachi is made from japanese madake bamboo harvested in the mid/late 1960s, and with ca. 5O+ years of drying makes excellent bamboo for shakuhachi. The flute has an expressive, rich variety of tonal colours, yet a compact full sound. It has excellent tuning with an easy accessible otsu and kan register and is also capable of the full dai-kan range, tested up to ‘ro‘ in the fourth octave. Great dynamics and response make this an excellent instrument
The bamboo has beautiful patterns and is comfortable to hold. at ca. 370 g. There are traditional rattan binding on the middle joint rings and the bore is finished with black urushi.
This shakuhachi can be used for various styles and genres e.g. honkyoku, sankyoku or modern music. The shakuhachi comes with a protective utaguchi cap and a carrying bag. (see pictures)
